27 & 28 March

The starter for today was:  Why did Americans want the Indians moved?

Today we looked at Andrew Jackson as a person.  We looked at his good qualities and his bad qualities.  We also looked at the Trail of Tears in more depth.  We completed the Andrew Jackson picture.

22 & 23 March

Today's starter - Pretend for a minute that the government forced your family out of your house.  How would you feel?  What would you do?

We read an Encyclopedia Brown mystery and then corrected and handed in the Jefferson Era packet and the Lewis and Clark Booklet - these will both go on Term 4.


We worked on the War of 1812 postcard and then began our discussion on Andrew Jackson.

Today's starter - Is it possible for a great person to have flaws?  Please explain your answer.

Today we played a game called the Impossible Test.  Each student created 11 questions and answers of their own choice from pages 264-299.

16 & 19 March

There was no starter today - we turned the starters in.  The starters are the last score on Term 3.

The grades have been updated.  There will be no new assignments included on your Term 3 grade.  Everything we are currently working on will go on the Term 4 grade.  If you have a grade lower than what you would like to have, please come in and fix any low scores or turn in any missing assignments before A1 on Friday.

Today we reviewed the causes of the War of 1812.  We also looked at the history of Fort McHenry, The Star-Spangled Banner flag, and our National Anthem.

Today's Starter: What is a symbol?  What does the American flag mean to you?

We worked on our Lewis and Clark 6th Grade booklets.  These booklets will be due next week - they will go on 4th Term's grades.

12 & 13 March

Today's Starter was: "What are some reasons that nations go to war?"

We reviewed the Lewis & Clark Expedition and introduced the War of 1812.

6, 7, 8 & 9 March

These days had a little bit of a mixed schedule because the counselors came in to talk about Reality Town which will be held later on this month.

Our starters for these days were: "Why was France willing to sell Louisiana to us." & "What was the purpose of the Lewis & Clark Expedition?"

We watched a video on the Expedition and answered some questions on the video.  We also began to plan our Lewis & Clark Booklet - we will complete this later.

Welcome to March - Spring is just 19 days away!

Our starter for today was: Think about all of the great things that George Washington did - what do you think was his greatest accomplishment?

We finished looking at Washington's presidency and then talked about John Adams' presidency.  We began an assignment on Washington's Accomplishments and corrected and turned in the green Federalists assignment.

We then looked at the U.S.S. Constitution.
