27 & 28 January
Today's starter was: Tell me the names and jobs of the three branches of government.
We watched two old School House Rocks videos - one on the three branches and one on the Preamble to the Constitution.
We looked at the three branches in greater depth and then discussed the checks and balances that each branch uses to limit the power of the others.
You need to have pages 5 & 6 completed in your packet for next time.

10 & 13 January
This is a new set of starters: Think about the reasons the colonists fought the Revolutionary War: When the colonists created a new government for themselves, what concerns might they have had?
Today we took a look at the Articles of Confederation and the struggles that our new country was going through after the end of the Revolutionary War. We are beginning to watch A More Perfect Union - a BYU-produced movie about the creation of the Constitution.

8 & 9 January
Today's starter was: How is the U.S. Constitution different from The Declaration of Independence? This was our last starter for this set. We turned the starters in today - this will be your last new grade on Term 2.
After the starter, we re-took the test in class. Everyone who re-took the test improved their grade, and most of you did so significantly. Well done!
I gave you some time to wrap up the Battles Page and the Revolutionary War Theme Park - these will be turned in either Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on when you have History next term.
Remember - the absolute last moment I will take any missing, late, or re-done assignments is Monday before the start of B5!

6 & 7 January
Welcome back to school! Please remember that this term ends next Monday, the 13th of January.
Today's starter was: What was important/significant about the Battle of Yorktown?
The class day before Christmas Break we took the Revolutionary War Test. You gave yourself a preliminary grade that day - I have gone through and graded them. If you received a score of 35 or less (out of 40) you made test corrections and you will re-take the questions you missed the next time we meet.
After making test corrections I then had you work on the Battles Page and the Revolutionary War Theme Park. These will be due Tuesday/Wednesday of next week.
