Today's starter was:  Do you think that the Civil War could have been avoided?  Explain your answer, please.

We reviewed the major events that led up to the Civil War, including:

• Uncle Tom's Cabin
• The Missouri Compromise
• The Compromise of 1850
• The Fugitive Slave Act
• "Bleeding Kansas"
• John Brown's Raid at Harper's Ferry

We spent 30 minutes working on "The Road to The Civil War" assignment and then began looking at Abraham Lincoln.
